Club History
El Macero Country Club was founded in 1961 by C. Bruce Mace as part of the El Macero property development. In 1966, the members purchased the club from the Mace family and it became a proprietary position facility as a California Non-Profit Corporation. El Macero Country Club is located near Davis, about 10 miles west of Sacramento, in Yolo County. The club, and its golf course, meander through the El Macero development and encompass about 168 acres within beautiful residential surroundings. The entrance to the club is off Mace Boulevard, approximately a mile south of Interstate 80, which gives it easy access from any location.

Numerous California Governors have golfed at El Macero including Governor George Deukmejian and his wife Gloria.

As Governor, Ronald Reagan enjoyed golfing at EL Macero Country Club

Nearly 2,000 trees were planted, Modesto, Ash, Silver Maple, Sycamore. Locust and Pine to supplement the indigenous Oaks, Cottonwoods and Willows.

It is a little known fact that at one time there was a 3,300 square foot Airstrip in El Macero for residents that would rather fly than drive to El Macero Country Club!
