El Macero Country Club was founded in 1961 by C. Bruce Mace as part of the El Macero property development.

In 1966, the members purchased the club from the Mace family and it became a proprietary position facility as a California Non-Profit Corporation.

Nearly 2,000 trees were planted, Modesto, Ash, Silver Maple, Sycamore. Locust and Pine to supplement the indigenous Oaks, Cottonwoods and Willows.

It is a little known fact that at one time there was a 3,300 square foot Airstrip in El Macero for residents that would rather fly than drive to El Macero Country Club!
